Aircraft Jet Ignition Exciters
The SIG Series is a frequently requested component for aircraft jet ignition systems and high energy spark igniters (HESI) due to its extremely long life of over 10 million operations. This high performance spark gap makes possible energy transfer applications having greater serviceability with reduced cost of equipment maintenance when used in igniters of aircraft engine circuits.
Windshield Heater Protection System
Lightning strikes and static electric discharges on aircraft windshields will induce large electrical transient currents into the conductive coatings and heater protection circuits which are used for anti-icing and defogging of the windshield. One of the earliest gas discharge spark gap protectors, UFT(266)900, became a standard of the industry to provide critical circuit protection for the Windshield Heater Protection System in commercial aircraft. While the UFT(266)900 is still available, a more reliable UBD Series spark gap, developed by HED, has now become the preferred component for leading manufacturers of commercial jetliners.
